Who we are
Mahala Websites is a South African website build and hosting service. The responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA) can be contacted at info@mahalawebsite.co.za or 074 837 5701. We do not publish a street address.
What we collect
- Questionnaire submissions: business details, website needs, style notes, content notes, and the contact name, email and phone you give us.
- Enquiries: anything you send by email, WhatsApp or the booking form, including meeting notes needed to build the site.
- Billing: invoice details and payment references for the monthly licence. We do not store complete card numbers on this site.
This marketing site sets no advertising cookies and runs no third-party analytics trackers.
Why we process it
We process personal information to reply to enquiries, build and host the site, send the monthly ranking report, invoice the R950 licence, keep required records, and protect our legal rights. We do not sell personal information or add you to a mailing list unless you ask.
Who receives it
We share only what is reasonably necessary with hosting and email providers that run the service, with professional advisers under confidentiality, or with regulators and courts where law requires it. Questionnaire leads are emailed to our operations inbox. A count-only pulse (number of leads, no personal information) may be sent to our internal dashboard.
Retention and location
Questionnaire and client records are kept while they are needed for the engagement and for the periods tax, accounting and other laws require. Hosting infrastructure may be outside South Africa. Where personal information crosses borders, we apply the safeguards required by POPIA section 72.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards. No internet transmission is completely secure. Please do not email passwords or payment-card numbers.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask what we hold about you, request correction or deletion, object to processing, withdraw consent where consent is the basis, and complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at POPIAComplaints@inforegulator.org.za. Email info@mahalawebsite.co.za to exercise a right.
